SEA Change Community Conversation: Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity

Join us on Wednesday, June 21 at 12pm ET for our next SEA Change Community Conversation. We will be discussing the collection and use of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) data in the context of systemic change efforts for DEI in STEMM. The existing STEMM education and workforce data indicate vast disparities for queer and trans people in STEMM. However, many institutions of higher education in the US do not currently collect SOGI data, which makes dismantling the barriers faced by queer and trans people all the more challenging. There are several considerations to be made when planning for the responsible collection and use of SOGI data as part of a self-assessment and/or action plan focused on advancing equity. Panelists will include:

  • Jason C. Garvey, PhD (he/him)
  • Mario Suárez, PhD (he/him)
  • C. V. Dolan, MEd (they/them)
  • Kerith Conron, ScD, MPH (she/her)
